This special new extended single sees Far Flung Collective's acclaimed 'Reel: Steàrnan Beag (The Little Tern)' (from the 'Far Flung Corners' album) reimagined by Bournemouth-based world jazz outfit, Thokozile Collective, as a ten minute fusion extravaganza blending reggae, jazz and African highlife influences. It's part of a two single package which will see a further reimagining of 'Reel: Steàrnan Beag' - 'Bird Trip' - release on 10 December 2021.

Anna-Wendy Stevenson's original tune, one of the most popular from the 'Far Flung Corners' album, was inspired by the resilience of the little tern, one of the many migratory birds to visit the Outer Hebrides every year. 'We decided to sample some of the original tune, extend it, and rework it musically to imagine the little tern's journey starting in West Africa across Europe and the Atlantic right up to the Western Isles', says Dan Somogyi, the common link in both bands. 'The project was a bit of a lockdown special. A whole new tune emerged using the musical phrases from the original song. I sent it to some of the Thokozile musicians, and to Anna-Wendy, we worked on it remotely and this is what resulted. It's very different to the usual Far Flung sound but hopefully fans of both bands will find something to like in it'

The tune, along with the forthcoming 'Bird Trip' was mastered by Pete Fletcher, who also mastered the 'Black Bay' album.
